IAN KELLY
Born in Montreal’s West End to a Franco party dad and an Anglo student-mom, Ian Kelly grew up between Leonard Cohen and Daniel Bélanger. He left school young, drawn instead to his brother’s records and basement band rehearsals—grunge, hip-hop, and the acoustic songs that hit deepest. Gigs in bars followed, then a job as a stage tech at the Spectrum. A chance opening slot for Alanis Morissette changed everything—his self-produced albums sold out that night.
Now sober and a father of four, Ian creates moody, melodic music from his home studio in Morin-Heights. On stage, he’s joined by multi-instrumentalist Marcus Lowry and sometimes his daughter Mahika, delivering a warm, stripped-down show. With two decades of music behind him, Ian draws from his best songs to build a heartfelt set—eclectic, authentic, and free of gimmicks. From Take Me Home to Devenir vieux, Montréal to I Need Your Love, expect raw lyrics, rich vocals, and honest emotion.
